Nico O’Reilly Another confident showing by the rising star after his debut against another side. Saka did not capitalize on full advantage of a gorgeous flick over the opposing backline. His position is firmly his at this stage. 7

Adam Wharton His first start with the national team. Slightly sloppy when playing out but his whipped set-pieces caused problems. A handy game manager for the coach to call upon versus sides that sit back. Cautioned after a reckless foul. Six

Declan Rice Deliveries on corner kicks and free-kicks were dangerous. Had license to move in left midfield yet found himself offside when the ball arrived in front of goal. Awarded a deserved break after an hour. 6

Jude Bellingham Played in an advanced role out wide and did plenty of defensive duties. Demonstrated moments of class and mishit a shot wide. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, his rival, after being booked. 7

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's top opening of the first half, his effort excellently kept out from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah holding position, he had to offer an outlet out wide yet his deliveries into the box were hit and miss. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. 6

The captain The match-winner netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth finishes for his country. The first a trademark poacher’s finish and the second an excellent header after peeling away away from the opposition. At 32, his form is unwavering and England have every chance in future competitions with him leading the line. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to influence play from the left. Was presented with a good opening when set up from a teammate yet the keeper made the save. His replacement produced a bigger an impact when substituted. 5/10
