Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
