Football Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, however can the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' new album, the new release, is available on Friday.

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be fairly close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

Fulham have have lots of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home form, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
