Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' mantra that attracts so many people into the NFL
That result could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an edge over their eight and two competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third period and initial scoring in the final quarter - yes the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two scores
Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was also key, with Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard season average
Additionally there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine minute drive yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the composed, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a nice lead at the summit of the AFC East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the New England, they're one of three eight and two teams in the NFL, all AFC teams, but are they the top team?
One could find flaws in New England, Denver and the Colts actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their total 24 wins achieved against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Denver
Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can ride Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses came in new head coach Vrabel's first three contests, with seven consecutive victories, similar to the Broncos, since then - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was significant
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he definitely deserves credit for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to success
The defense is reliable and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth runner to exceed 22mph this year on his first score
While you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Patriots should be favorites to end with the top record due to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, although a huge one against Buffalo
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and additionally the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to face. There's a considerable distance to go but the door is available for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Next Week Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three 8-2 teams are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who both scored forty points to reach seven and two before next week's Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in LA
Both have won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Each could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick blocked and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely two of the top teams in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a record season after his incredible display in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three scores and adding an additional forty-two {receiving yards
