Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the September show, which successfully generated a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single features a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
